Honeydew: Round melon fruit typically 15-22cm in diameter. The flesh is pale green with a smooth greenish to yellow outside. The flesh is sweet most often eaten for dessert. There are seeds inside. It is hard to tell when the fruit is ripe, greenish white outside is immature and creamy yellow is mature. The fruit should feel heavy for its size and have a waxy surface. The honeydew grows best in warmer climates. California is a large producer of honeydew and it is in season August until October. |
